Western Bhutan

Western Bhutan comprises of Thimphu, Paro, Haa, Wangdue Phodrang, Punakha and Gasa. In this circuit one may attend wide range of activities like festivals, wonders of living cultural , rituals, folk dances, beauty of the rare Himalayan flowers blooming, trekking with interesting legends , meditation and wellness facilities, vist temples , dzongs(fortress) , museums, textiles life which reveals the culture and history or farmers livelihood in the folk heritage museum in the capital , plantations or harvests of the grains depending on the seasons one could visit and photographers delight of ripening paddies and other grains in autumn.

Central Bhutan

Central Bhutan comprises of the two attractive districts of Trongsa and Bumthang. Defining great part of our history and till early 1950’s it was a seat of our two kings. Experience the living culture of our Nomads attending their festivals including annual Tshechus of Trongsa and Bumthang, also the unique Jampa Lhakang and Ura Tshechu. Ura has also got the Matsutake festivals where one could taste the high altitude mushrooms and drink Red panda beer. Ta- Dzong which has now turned into Museum and Wangdi Choeling Palace built by 1st King Ugyen Wangchuk are another attractions. Species like Rufous necked hornbill, Rufous-throated wern-babbler, Satyr Tragopan, Beautiful nuthatch, ward’s trogon and Chestnut-breasted partridge are globally threatened birds one may spot while trekking the Thrumshingla National Park. Apart from this one may also spot Red Panda and the foot prints of the Royal Bengal Tiger.

Eastern Bhutan

Eastern Bhutan welcomes travelers into a world of unexplored trekking, historical and cultural escapades, great scenery, textiles highlights and natural wonders. The districts of Mongar, Lhuntse, Tashi Yangtse, Tashigang and Samdrup Jongkhar include the eastern circuits. Of culture we offer you lots of spiritual festivals that include some of the rare animist rituals and Bon practices. Explore the hub of the country’s unexplored destination. For the first few years, this unique destination is offered to adventure spirited tourists. Only those who like to experience the Spartan accommodation and tented or farmhouse stays, will enjoy these least visited regions.

Southern Bhutan

The southern circuit comprises of seven southern Districts which includes Samtse, Chukha, Dagana, Tsirang, Sarpang, Zhemgang and Pema Gatshel.

The attractions and activities in those places are: –

  1. Dunmang Hot spring in Zhemgang and other Hot springs in Sarpang Districts.
  2. Phibso Wildlife Sanctuary.
  3. The Royal Manas National Park.
  4. Spot of tropical fruits and numerous species of medicinal plants.
  5. Cultural of Khenpas and the colorful rituals and festivals of Lhotsampas (the ethnic race of Nepalese orgin, settled there).

The inhabitants of southern Bhutan are mixture of almost every ethnic group comprising of the Sharchops, Ngalops, Bumthaps, Khenpas, Kurtoeps and then Lhotshampas. The summer months are not recommended due to heat and humidity of the region to visit. Animist rituals are quite popular in the region. Sarpang is one of the Districts which was newly opened destinations when Gelephu was made feasible for entry and exit of tourists. Southern circuit is called as Bhutan’s unique nature trips. Zhemgang have endemic species of primates called the Langur and Rufous-necked Hornbill and also watch wild gaurs, elephants, rhinos, tigers, clouded leopards.

Favorable altitude of Zhemgang which rises from 300m to almost 3000m above sea level which makes a good place for flowers from spring till the start of the summer and Sarpang is best known for tropical orchids land. Apart from restrictive summer monsoon rains, autumn and winter are ideal bird watching months in the southern circuit.

The remoteness of Zhemgang region is a trekker’s delight. One must explore the kheng region on foot and you will be amazed to see a place you have never seen before. Some villages still live traditionally in bamboo huts roofed bambpp leaves and the water being carried in bamboo containers still. Traditionally the Kheng in Zhemgang was divided in to three regions of Chikhor(upper Kheng), Nangkhor Kheng(middle Kheng) and Tamachok(Lower Kheng).
